SINGAPORE (5 September 2021) – Notwithstanding the still raging pandemic, Franklin Templeton together with PT Bahana TCW Investment Management announced recently the launch of their mutual fund offering Indonesian investors opportunities in US equities.
The mutual fund, Bahana US Opportunity Sharia Equity USD, offers individual investors new and diversified investment opportunities, the companies said in a statement. The Fund is based on a portfolio managed by New York-headquartered ClearBridge Investments, a specialist investment manager of Franklin Templeton.
Technology, healthcare, financials and consumer discretionary companies form the key sectors in the fund portfolio. Actively managed using environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing principles, the Fund is “modelled in line with Sharia guidelines,” they said.
“We are delighted to offer Franklin Templeton’s investment expertise in Indonesia for the very first time. Our collaboration with Bahana TCW to launch a new mutual fund for Indonesian investors will feature our best-in-class U.S. growth strategy with positive ESG attributes,” Dora Seow, Franklin Templeton’s Regional Head for Southeast Asia (ex-Malaysia) said.
“This launch provides a strong foundation for us to establish a competitive advantage in the hugely important Indonesian market, and we look forward to expanding our product offering for clients in Indonesia,” she added.
“Bahana TCW (is seeing) a growing interest from Indonesian investors in global technology and healthcare companies,” said Rukmi Proborini, President Director of Bahana TCW. Bahana TCW is enabling investors’ access to such investments by collaborating with Franklin Templeton, she added.
