SINGAPORE (9 December 2021) – SME clients of Maybank Singapore could look forward to accessing overseas markets via the bank’s “Halal-Route-to-Market” platform launched recently, John Lee, Country CEO and CEO of Maybank Singapore said.
Maybank Islamic launched the programme last week by making available 50 new made-in-Malaysia halal food products from 10 Malaysian SMEs to Singapore supermarket chain, HAO Mart. The objective of the programme, dubbed “HalMap”, is to enable Malaysia-based SMEs to expand their halal businesses overseas. In addition to a distribution platform, the bank will also provide advisory service and training to these SMEs in the FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) market segment.
Lee said the bank will be looking to facilitate suitable platforms for Singapore SMEs with halal businesses such as those in halal healthcare and fintech to access overseas markets.
“Our clients look to us for their Shariah-compliant banking needs, therefore HalMap Programme has developed an ecosystem that constitutes financing and business development. This Programme is made possible by Maybank’s capabilities in serving the Singapore-Malaysia trade corridor, and our knowledge of halal supply chains,” Lee said, adding that it is in a good position to help scale SME businesses.
In conjunction with the launch, Maybank Singapore made a Zakat fund donation of SGD 30,000 to purchase the new-to-market items and distributed them to 300 low-income Malaysians working in the city-state.
The new products are available at Eccellente at HAO Mart at Kinex Shopping Mall. List of products can be found here (https://amaxmall.com/angkasa/). -/-
